For Kelsey, it was a small change that made her feel good about herself. But just days later, a visit to her father\u2019s home ended with a dramatic change to her appearance.<\/p>\n
When Kelsey returned home, her highlighted hair had been cut short.<\/p>\n
Christin said that Kelsey\u2019s father, Schaffen Frederick, and stepmother, Sarah Murray, had ordered the haircut because they did not approve of the highlights. She shared before-and-after photographs of her daughter on Facebook, and the post quickly attracted enormous attention online, receiving tens of thousands of reactions and shares.<\/p>\n

Police in Haskins, Ohio, and Wood County Children\u2019s Services investigated a possible child-abuse complaint related to the incident. Frederick and Murray, who were volunteer firefighters with the Middleton Township Fire Department, were placed on leave while the investigations were underway.<\/p>\n
