Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health to honor their father\u2019s legacy\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_2-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"><em>Kardashian <\/em>is facing a health scare.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_3-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_4-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">In the\u00a0newly released trailer\u00a0for\u00a0<em>The Kardashians\u00a0<\/em>season 8, the mother of four shares that she has \u201csomething called esophagitis.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_5-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_6-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">According to the\u00a0Mayo Clinic, esophagitis is a \u201cswelling and irritation, called inflammation, of the tissues that line the esophagus. The esophagus is the muscular tube that carries food and drink from the mouth to the stomach.\u201d It is diagnosed through tests, including an endoscopy, in which a tube with a camera is inserted into the throat and esophagus.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_7-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">In another clip, Kim is seen lying in a hospital bed wearing a gown as someone off camera asks, \u201cDidn\u2019t your father&#8230; isn\u2019t it what he died of?\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_12-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">Kim\u2019s dad,\u00a0Robert Kardashian, died of esophageal cancer in 2003 when he was 59 years old.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_13-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_14-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">Momager\u00a0Kris Jenner\u00a0then says in an aside interview, \u201cI can\u2019t, it makes me want to cry.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_15-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_16-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">However, esophagitis and esophageal cancer are not the same.<\/p>\n<p>According to the\u00a0University of Washington\u2019s Division of Gastroenterology, chronic esophagitis is \u201cvery common\u201d and can result from acid reflux. The department notes that one in 10 reflux patients could develop Barrett\u2019s esophagus \u201cin which the normal lining of the esophagus is replaced by one prone to cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_17-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_18-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">The trailer did not clarify the severity of Kim\u2019s esophagitis, but she is seen crying in another clip.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_19-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_20-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">In the years since Robert\u2019s untimely death, his daughters have spoken out about the disease. In 2019, Kim, along with Kris,\u00a0Kourtney Kardashian,\u00a0Khlo\u00e9 Kardashian,\u00a0Kendall Jenner\u00a0and more members of the extended Kardashian-Jenner family helped open the\u00a0UCLA Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health\u00a0in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<div id=\"mntl-sc-block_21-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_22-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">\u201cI have friends that I have referred to the Robert G.
