He thought he had found an easy target. He couldn’t have been more wrong.
In a surprising incident, 24-year-old Gregory McCalium broke into the home of 73-year-old Frank Corti, reportedly carrying a knife. The intruder may have expected to find a vulnerable elderly man who would be unable to fight back.
Instead, he encountered someone with a very different past.
Corti was a former Royal Engineers boxer and champion, with years of experience that the burglar clearly didn’t know about. When McCalium attacked, Corti fought back and quickly turned the situation around.

Despite being nearly 50 years older, Corti managed to knock the intruder down and restrain him until police arrived.

What began as an attempted burglary quickly became a completely different situation. The man who entered the house expecting an easy target ended up being held by the very person he thought couldn’t defend himself.
The incident serves as a powerful reminder that appearances can be deceiving. Age alone doesn’t determine someone’s strength, experience, courage, or ability to respond under pressure.
Never underestimate someone simply because of their age.

Sometimes, the person you think is the easiest target is exactly the person you should never have underestimated.
