Alabama executed Jeremy Williams on August 13 for the 2021 kidnapping, rape, and murder of five-year-old Kamarie Holland of Georgia. He confessed, pleaded guilty, gave up his appeals, and asked to be put to death. That is two months ago, not breaking news.
Kamarie loved princess costumes and dress-up, and she never got to grow up. Prosecutors say her own mother handed her over, and that mother was separately convicted of trafficking and sentenced to 20 years. The sheriff called it the worst case he’d seen in 39 years, and the district attorney put it plainly: “That baby didn’t die in peace.”
Opponents of the death penalty note that executions of inmates who waive their appeals raise their own questions. Nobody disputes who did this, though. He admitted it, he pleaded guilty, and a jury and courts heard everything. For many families, this is what accountability looks like.
Is this real justice served?
YES or NO
